  1. Creation of the non-profit association NURA

    The non-profit cultural association Nura was born in Nuragus from the passion of a group of people united by history, archaeology and the conviction that the appreciation and importance of the immense archaeological heritage in Sardinia is an important occasion for development especially in the smaller towns, which are more and more at risk due to the decline in population.

    Founded on the 25th of May in the year 2005, Nura is an association that is open to all, non-profit, registered in the national archive of associations. Our official address is via Chiesa, 38 Nuragus.

  2. Photography presentation of archaeological sites of Nuragus


    Presentation of photos from the main archeological sites of the territory of Nuragus, in order to raise awareness among the citizens of the town of the importance of its archeological heritage.

  3. Mapping, surface relief and surveys of the archaeological sites in the territory of Nuragus

    This activity has brought about the discovery of 20 nuraghic settlements that could be added to the eleven that already exist; domus de janas, domus de janas; floors, necropolis, ruins of the roman period, fortifications; ruins of religious sites for a total of 54 sites of interest

  4. Writing, printing and presentation of the book “Brief Story of Nuragus”


    The writing, printing and presentation of the book “Brief Story of Nuragus” a volume dedicated to the evolution of different historical periods of human settlements in Nuragus.

  5. Discovery of an engraved stello

    In February 2007, during field work volunteers of the association NURA came across an inscribed sandstone stella.

    The analysis on the stone performed by the University of Cagliari revealed the use of the stone for funerary purpose, most likely from between the end of the Republican Era to the beginning of the Roman Empire.

  6. Initial supporters of the first survey conducted by the University of Cagliari in the area of Nuragus

    The survey was directed by the Department of Historical, Artistic and Archaeological Science of the University of Cagliari.

    NURA supported the activities of surveying, which took place during the months of September and October, giving the proper documentation and site maps, pointing out possible sites of interest and accompanying groups of professors and students, sharing the information required for the investigation.

  7. A second survey campaign was also conducted by the University of Cagliari

    This survey campaign took place in the months of April and May.

  11. Nuragus: Volunteering for archaeology

    Presentation of the project “Nuragus: Volunteering for Archaeology” The project was created to favor more in depth knowledge of chosen archaeological sites. Also, thanks to an improvement of the accessibility at the sites, the project was able to raise awareness among the community of the importance of the protection and appreciation of the archaeological heritage of Nuragus and the discovery of the area’s history.

  12. Archaeological Course: Bai e cica ita ddu est a suta (Go figure what’s under there) – First edition

    The first edition of the Archaeological course “Bai e cica ita ddu est a suta”.

    The archeological course was designed with the intent to favor interest in the incalculable archaeological and cultural wealth of the territory.

    The subjects of the lessons, given by the professor of archaeology Alessandra Saba, were presented, without forgoing any scientific aspects yet they were done in a clear language, direct and simple so as to make it easily accessible to the youngest as well as to the oldest members of the population.

  14. Bits and pieces of archaeology

    The presentation, on the day of the IX Sagra de is Tallarinus, in a house in the historic center of Nuragus, of the reproduction of artifacts found in the territory, illustrations and images that tell about the activity of maintenance and cleaning of archaeological sites, the descriptions of the most important monuments and a series of posters on metallurgy and the cult of water.

    In the afternoon: “Bits and pieces of Archaeology”, a tour of the most important archaeology sites accompanied by Dr. Saba.

  15. Corso di Archeologia: Bai e cica ita ddu est a suta – Seconda edizione

    The archeological course was designed with the intent to favor interest in the incalculable archaeological and cultural wealth of the territory.

    The subjects of the lessons, given by the archeologist Alessandra Saba, of the conservation architect Diego Schirru and the experimental Archeologist Carmine Piras, were presented, without forgoing any scientific aspect, were presented in a clear language, direct and simple so as to make it easily accessible to the youngest as well as to the oldest members of the population.

    Presentation of the project “Nuragus: Volunteering for Archeology” The project was created to favor more in-depth knowledge of chosen archaeological sites.   17. Guided tour of a group of students from the Istituto Comprensivo di Lanusei to the sacred well of Coni and the nuraghe Santu Milanu

    Accompanied by NURA’s volunteers and guided by the engaging stores of Dr. Alessandra Saba, the participants were able to know and discover the two crown jewels of Nuraghic archaeology of Nuragus: the nuraghe Santu Milanu, an imposing four towered structure which has a central tower that rises six meters above the rubble layer. The other is the sacred well of Coni, a temple that contains a well of small dimension but of particular interest.

  18. Guided tour on the occasion of the motor club “Motoincontro de sa Mallora”

    The motorcyclists during the tour around the countryside of Nuraghe went to two archaeological sites, accompanied by Nura volunteers and were able to participate in an engaging guided tour alongside the archeologist Alessandra Saba.

  19. Guided tour of necropolis of Budragas of Asuni

    Guided tour offered to the participants of the first edition of the Asuni Yoga Festival.

    The volunteers of the association Nura accompanied the visitors to the necropolis of Budragas in Asuni (OR), made up of different hypogeum carven into the rock.

  20. At the table of the Nuraghic people, the everyday and holiday food of the nuraghes

    Set up, on the day of the IX Sagra de is Tallarinus, in a house in the historic center of Nuragus, of an exposition with the reproduction of artifacts found in the territory, illustrations and images that tell about the activity of maintenance and cleaning of archeological sites, the descriptions of the most important monuments and a series of posters on metallurgy and the cult of water.

    In the afternoon, “At the table of Nuraghic, the everyday and holiday food of the Nuraghic people”, a journey of the discovery of the tastes and other interesting curiosities of nuraghic food, with Alessandra Saba.

  22. Archeology by wagon

    Guided visit to the sacred well of Coni and nuraghe Santu Milanu, on the occasion XI Sagra of Is Tallarinus.

    The visitors, who came to Nuragus for the festivities, were able to reach the two archaeological sites aboard two beautiful covered wagons, once arriving on destination they will be accompanied by the members of Nura and the archaeologist Saba, on the hunt of the history of these two fascinating monuments.

  23. Spanish teenagers visit the nuraghe

    A group of teenagers participating in the project RurAct, created with the group Youth of the Sarcidano, were taken by the volunteers of Nura to discover the most important monuments.

  24. Breakfast with the fairies

    Leaving the library of Nuragus on foot, a group of parents and their children were guided by the librarians and volunteers of Nura, to Santu Milanu were they were able to listen, from the lips of the archeologist Alessandra, about the history of this ancient monument.

  25. Geophysical surveys

    A survey was performed on a piece of land that is adjacent to the ruins of the church Santa Maria of Valenza.

    The Georadar relief, the first of a series of investigations to be performed in order to conserve from time and weather the archaeological sites in the territory of Nuragus, was performed by the Henge S. r.l Heritage Engineering Geophysics company, a spinoff of the University of Cagliari, under the supervision and the approval of the technical supervisors of the municipality of Nuragus and the technical direction of the Cooperative Ianus S.r.l.

  26. Nuragus: Volunteering for archaeology

    The project was created to encourage more in-depth knowledge of certain archaeological sites. Also, thanks to an improvement of the accessibility at the sites, the project was able to raise awareness among the community on the importance of the protection and appreciation of the archeological heritage of Nuragus and the unraveling of the area’s history.
